About “Medical Prices Data in the Philippines” as a Project of ROJoson or ROJoson’s Medical Clinic

Today, August 18, 2012, I officially start this blog of mine on “Medical Prices Data in the Philippines.”  Note: I have been intermittently posting medical prices data before in my Facebook when I started using it on July 16, 2011.

In my patient management processes, (https://sites.google.com/site/patientmanagementprocess/), in deciding on what option for diagnostic tests and treatment procedures to take by a patient, I have the “medical price” factored in.  The four parameters used for comparisons for the different options of tests and treatments are benefit, risk, cost and availability or BRCA.

In this personal project of mine as well as that of ROJoson Medical Clinic, medical prices would include costs of diagnostic tests and procedures, drugs, treatment modalities & procedures, hospital expenses, etc.  What will not be included will be the individual professional fees of health care providers as these are very variable and difficult to gather.  What may be included will be the published rates and those formulated by PhilHealth and Health Maintenance Organizations.

I will try my best to get the data based on my personal experience as a practicing physician, with the help of my secretary, Ms. Lilibeth Tumambeng, my patients, my students, colleagues and friends in my Facebook.   As prices may change from time and vary from one source to another, I do not guarantee absolute accuracy of the data posted by those who will contribute to the data bank.  Most if not all of the prices will at best be estimates and approximations.  This will be my first disclaimer at the outset.  We will try our best!  Best effort.

I welcome data on medical prices from anybody.  Just send them to me through my Facebook, my emails, cellphone, and other means.  I also welcome inputs for updating the prices, correcting any perceived errors, and confirming the accuracy of data presented.

I envision this blogsite to be a resource for the patients and even students and practicing physicians in the Philippines when they use the “Management of a Patient Process” above.  For details of the process, visit: https://sites.google.com/site/patientmanagementprocess/

Wish me luck as this project is not easy!

A public service of ROJoson Medical Clinic!
